Treat Your Yoni W/ This DIY Detox Bath

Updated: Jan 21, 2019

21 Days of Self-Care Blog Series:

Day 1- Detox

It's just something about enjoying a nice long hot bath after a long week of working hard and partying even harder, that just makes you feel fresh and renewed.

This past weekend I call myself going to Walmart to pick up a few things (already a bad idea) and while shopping I ended up on Facetime with my homegirl. She told me she was planning to take a detox bath. & you know when someone mentions detox you automatically become curious. I was used to the normal bubble bath, epsom salt and exfoliant baths but when she started listing the ingredients I just knew I had to try it. Her enthusiasm told me it was exactly what I needed.

This bath being categorized as a detox became more-so representation for me than it was a treatment for my Yoni. When you accept self-care into your life wholly and fully you sacrifice the accusation that you're being selfish or mean when you do things like cut people and things out of your life. This bath was me washing away all of my negative thoughts and the negative toxins from my body and my life. When you sit in the bathtub and just relax, no distractions just you, your thoughts and peace of mind, you can hear the universe more clearly. You gain clarity and confirmation.

Oftentimes when we fill our lives with toxins- the people we hang out with, the food we eat, men we have sex with, music we listen to, books we read, thoughts we think; we do ourselves a disservice when these things are not good for us or to us. The nurturer in us has a strong desire to be there for others even when it causes us to lose bits and pieces of ourself. How often have you done something for someone else and really didn't want to but you did it anyway? Then afterwards a part of you regretted it but felt satisfied because the other party was happy. THIS IS NOT OKAY! It's not fair to them and most importantly it isn't fair to you. Self-care is about doing whats best for you even when it isn't whats best for them! Because ultimately if you aren't okay during the exchange you can not fully fulfill the needs of others. It's time to detox it away sis.

There is nothing more relaxing than going home after a long day of work and ending your day with a nice shower. However, there is nothing more replenishing than taking a bath before you take that shower. Most times when we shower we are limited on time. We don't want to have the water running forever no matter how good it feels or how much you feel like you can stay in another 5 minutes that turns to 10 then next thing you know the water is cold. Now on the other hand, when you run your bath water, that one time you can sit in the tub for as long as you feel like it. Use this time to your advantage. Reflect on the day, your goals, your feelings, your current thoughts, etc. JUST THINK! I challenge you to bathe more than once a week. I took this detox bath on a late Saturday night early Sunday morning. Then once the week started I remembered how I felt afterwards then decided to have at it a second round.

If you are in need of a good detox, don't go anywhere. We got you queen! Add these few ingredients to your next bathe then come back and share with us how enjoyable it was. Feel free to add your favorite toy for a nice touch.

1. Epsom Salt Bubble Bath

Bubbles just transform your bath from ordinary to spa-like. Epsom salt bubble bath has many benefits from soothing aches and pains, de-stressing, and essential oil benefits.

Think of the bubbles as the negativity pealing from your body conjoining into pockets as they prepare to be rinsed down the drain!

2. Epsom Salt

Oh the wonders of Epsom Salt. The batch of minerals work together efficiently to provide a impactful experience to the user. Unlike other salts, epsom salt soothes the mind, body and the soul. Additionally, the health benefits makes it worth while. These benefits include relaxing the nervous system, curing skin problems, soothing back pain, easing muscle strain, healing cuts, treating colds and congestion, and drawing toxins from the body. One of the simplest ways to ease stress is to soak in a tub full of hot water with a few cups of Epsom Salt.

3. Baking Soda

Now for the detoxing. Baking soda aids in curing the skin and relieving health concerns. Baking soda baths helps relieve yeast infection symptoms, purifies the body, boosts your immune system, neutralizes acid in urine, removes germs and helps in healing. Which is most essential in self-care.

4. Coconut Oil

That black girl potion. Coconut oil has great benefits for the skin such as softening it and even healing cuts and wounds and soothes dry skin conditions. After adding coconut oil in your detox bath, you'll for sure leave the tub feeling as smooth as a babies bottom.

5. Apple Cider Vinegar

ACV helps relieve skin and vaginal infections. The ACV aids in the detoxification process by drawing out toxins and cleans out pores – even in sensitive areas.

6. Flowers (Roses)

Not only are roses visually appealing giving your bath a sense of luxury it also aids in improving skin complexion and tightens the pores.
