Black Women Are Winning in Business

We've been hearing it time and time again, but it hasn't quite sunk in. It doesn't have to be black history month or even #NationalBlackBusinessMonth to acknowledge that black businesses are currently on the rise. To make matters even BETTER black women are leading the pack. Black women are the booming economic force in the United States and we don't plan on slowing down any time soon.

If this isn't enough proof that there is room for all of us to grow, then I don't know what is. If this isn't enough proof that saturation was a term created to scare you into not going for your dreams, well then you'll never accomplish anything sis!

Our magic juice isn't just being sprinkled about in one state or one industry, we are making this wave around the entire United States. So grab your tea cup and come filleth up with some major black girl juice to inspire you to claim your spot in Black Girl History:

1. Regardless of the fact that black women are restricted more than any other population from capital when starting a business, we've still managed to own over 1.5 million businesses in the United States. Thanks to The New Voices Fund, that number will continue to rise.

2. Of the 38% of businesses in the United States owned by women, 47% are owned by minority women.

3. The businesses specifically owned by black women employ over $350,000 workers generating more than 50 billion in revenue.

4. The top-earning industries for businesses owned and operated by black women are in healthcare, retail and tech.

5. The cities and states leading the pack are District of Columbia, Mississippi, Georgia, Florida, New York City, Atlanta. Detroit, Illinois and Memphis, Tenn. So you know what that means? If you don't feel as though you can prosper in your city or state, time to pack your bags.

While we can continue to blame lack of fair pay, lack of opportunities, capital and prejudice, we could also use all the negative as fuel to start and grow your empire!
